the team so far…
Taraqqi Pasand Media is an effort to provide an online and media platform for progressive voices and movements in the context of Pakistan–and, hopefully, the South Asian and other, wider contexts. The team currently includes:
Khawer Amir Khan is a journalist who spent the last few years working with Dawn News TV. He started with them before they went on the air and was on the Legal beat–which was quite the place to be during the Lawyers’ Movement. He is currently recharging his batteries and pursuing further studies at The New School in New York. His own blog is at: http://www.khawerkhan.wordpress.com
Sabahat Ashraf, who goes by the pen name of “iFaqeer”, is a communicator based in Silicon Valley. He has worked both in technology and the media and is currently drowning in new media. Close associates have been known to describe him as a “crypto lefty”, despite his own repeated insistence that, in the words of Marx himself, “I am not a Marxist.” His own website is at http://iFaqeer.com
Erum Haider is a recent UChicago Graduate and a journalist on academic leave in the United States. When she’s not obsessively following all Pakistan-related news she spends her time eavesdropping on Hill staffers and holding coffee shops hostage for their entire stock of oatmeal cookies. Her own blog is: http://erumhaider.wordpress.com
Asim Jaan is a Karachi based activist involved in the struggle against capitalism and imperialism. He has written many well received notes on facebook but is new to wordpress.
